(Iqaluit, NU, July 26, 2011) - Nunavut Arctic College and RBC are teaming up to establish a new, Nunavut-based Bachelor of Applied Business Administration in Accounting Degree program. RBC, through its charitable foundation, will contribute $150,000 to help develop the program, the first of its kind in the North.

“RBC believes that investing in education is one of the most important things we do. By helping to fund the Bachelor of Applied Business Administration in Accounting degree program we are investing in the next generation of business leaders and contributing to the communities where we live and work,” says Bruce MacKenzie, regional president for RBC, Alberta and the Territories. “We are very excited about the opportunities that this northern program will provide.”

The new program will be offered as a continuation of the College’s existing two-year Management Studies Diploma. Management Studies is a general management program intended to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for students who want to start administrative and management careers in business, government and non-profit organizations.

“We’re very grateful to RBC for their support in establishing this innovative, new program,” said Nunavut Arctic College President Michael Shouldice. “Their support will greatly contribute to providing Nunavut with additional financial management resources and capacity for our Private and public sectors.”

Delivery of the new Business Administration in Accounting program is expected to begin in the 2012-2013 academic year.
