Nunavut Teacher Education Program to offer online science courses
Program planning for next year is continuing unabated in Education Programs at Nunavut Arctic College.
In this current year, we made efforts to include new initiatives as it pertained to course delivery. It is important that we continually seek ways and means to address the realities of geography and the cultural dynamic that is reflective of this large land.
The Muskox Project: Pilot program combines literacy, technology and distance learning in Nunavut
Early Childhood Education students in Igloolik created web-based children’s stories as part of a literacy initiative in the North Baffin called The Muskox Project.
Food for thought: Survival Skills Instead of “Education”
With reference to “Education Week” I am late this year in submitting my proposal that the name be changed to “Survival Skills Week”. Perhaps it may be applied next year. My reason is quite simple and straightforward.
From Desks to Desktop: Nunavut Arctic College and MTO Launch Program to Support Municipal Employees
(Iqaluit, Nunavut) Training in Nunavut takes a giant leap forward this month as Nunavut Arctic College launches the first of five online courses in the Municipal Training Organization’s (MTO) popular Municipal Government Program (MGP). Building on the successful pilot computer training last winter, the “Introduction to Northern Government” will be delivered online to participants across Nunavut starting November 28th. The course covers the structure, history and operations of territorial and municipal governments in Nunavut.

The Learning Materials Centre Digital Print-On-Demand Storefront is a collaborative initiative developed by Nunavut Arctic College, the Qikiqtani Inuit Association, the Nunavut Bilingual Education Society and Inhabit Media Inc.
This site was developed to ensure that Nunavut-developed resource materials will never go out of print and will always be available to anyone interested in preserving and promoting Inuktitut.
NOTE: This is a non-profit initiative. The books on this site are sold at cost.
On-Line Learning Opportunity: Change: Education, Learning, and Technology!
This course will introduce participants to the major contributions being made to the field of instructional technology by researchers today. Each week, a new professor or researcher will introduce his or her central contribution to the field.

Nunavut Arctic College Director of Academic Affairs Linda Pemik congratulates Environmental Technology graduate Leanna Ellsworth on completing the University of the Arctic's Bachelor of Circumpolar Studies Program. Leanna thanked the College and the ETP program for their assistance and opportunity to take part in the University of the Arctic's programs.
"I encourage all of you as educators to continue inspiring young people to move forward with their education no matter what the methods of delivery are," she said.

University of the Arctic students explore Circumpolar Studies in Cambridge Bay
A group of six students in Cambridge Bay are happy they chose to take the on-line Introduction to Circumpolar Studies, the first course offering in Nunavut Arctic College’s new University Studies Diploma available through the University of the Arctic. Students were introduced to the notion of “nordicity” and what it means to be part of the Northern World.
Nunavut Environmental Tech grad completes UArctic Circumpolar Studies Program
It’s celebration time for Nunavut Arctic College Environmental Technology Program graduate Leanna Ellsworth. Ellsworth, who works for the Inuit Circumpolar Council in Ottawa, recently completed all seven modules of the University of the Arctic’s on-line Bachelor of Circumpolar Studies (BCS) program. She’s the first Inuk from Nunavut to complete the program.
