Each semester Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP) Coordinators travel to the communities where programs are being offered. This week Program Coordinator Louise Flaherty spent time with the NTEP Foundations class in Hall Beach. While acquainted with many of the students, it was special for everyone to spend face-to-face time together.
In addition to observing classes, Louise took time to speak to the group about many issues. The discussions revolved around the NTEP program, providing advice and encouragement regarding the many challenging aspects of post-secondary education. Openly drawing on personal and professional experience, she offered several insights towards setting and achieving goals.
Since the Hall Beach program is offered in the local school building, Louise also made time to speak with the local high school students about opportunities after graduation.
In addition to college related conversations, Nunavut Teacher Education Program students and their families were pleased to gather on Louise’s last evening in town. Together they share stories and recipes, as they prepared (and then enjoyed!) her prized bannock.
