The Nunavut Teacher Education Program recently had the opportunity to visit the Community of Cambridge Bay (Iqaluktuuttiaq).

During that time frame we:

  • Met with the Mayor and representatives of the Hamlet Council to profile the Nunavut Teacher Education Program and other course offerings from Nunavut Arctic College.
  • Presented the District Education Authority with an Appreciation Award for their support of our program initiatives and discussed other potential partnerships.
  • Addressed a group of Foundation Year students to promote the positives of being a Teacher in Nunavut and highlighted our degree program in partnership with the University of Regina.
  • Participated in a Staff Meeting with faculty members from Kullik Ilihakvik and expressed our appreciation to the school and teachers for their work with our Interns.
  • Met with Connie Kapolak, Principal, and various staff members at Kilinik High School to formulate ways and means for them to complete degree programs that had been started in previous years.
  • Conferenced with NTEP faculty member Margaret Bentham and the Year 4 students to discuss the final semester of their degree program.

Attached are some pictures that will give a sense of our visit and meetings.

We thank the people and various institutions in Cambridge Bay / Iqaluktuuttiaq for their warm welcome and generous commentary pertaining to the Nunavut Teacher Education Program and Nunavut Arctic College.
