The weather was cold but the welcome was warm last week in Cambridge Bay.
During the visit we met with:
We were appreciative of the efforts to accommodate us in various schedules. This was especially true with regard to our presentation on Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP) and Arctic College Programs to the Grade 12 students. They were attentive and interested.

It has been an exciting week at Nakasuk School, Iqaluit. On 11/01/ 2012 and 12/01/ 2012 a production team was at Nakasuk filming educators who are involved in various forms of mentorship. In particular, the production company is completing a new series that will be aired on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) called THE GUIDE, or SIVUMU. SIVUMU focuses on Inuit mentors and mentees.
The Canadian Northern Studies Trust (CNST) is the student awards program of the Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies (ACUNS). Nakasuk School, Iqaluit, has, for the third consecutive year, hosted Level 4 Intern Teachers. It has been a positive and enjoyable exercise for all concerned. These students are part of the Nunavut Teacher Education Program and the University of Regina Internship process. We are very pleased with their professionalism, expertise and commitment to education. We believe that it is important to serve as an educational incubator for new teachers who seek to participate fully in education in Nunavut.
Our Faculty at Nakasuk School are well versed in curriculum and all aspects dealing with the delivery of education. We are pleased that we are able to share with these students and have them participate with us in the pedagogical arena. We look forward to hosting more students in future. In closing, we simply wish to say that whatever the Nunavut Teacher Education Program and the University of Regina is doing... please continue to do so.

Recently, a group of third-year Nunavut Teacher Education Program students produced six animations as part of their Introduction to Arts Education course. The faculty member responsible for delivery of the Fine Arts material was Gyu Oh.
Neil Christopher is the NTEP faculty member responsible for Educational Media. We thank Neil for working cooperatively with Gyu to place the work on YouTube. His efforts have provided us with another venue to "promote the positives" of the Nunavut Teacher Education Program and Nunavut Arctic College.
