Whitehorse, YT – Students attending college in Canada’s three northern territories will soon have greater opportunities to further their studies at other universities. That’s because of a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed today in Yellowknife, NWT between Yukon, Aurora and Nunavut Arctic Colleges and Dalhousie University, University of Laval, University of Alberta and University of Ottawa.

Nunavut Arctic College's Senior Management Team held a series of successful meetings in Rankin Inlet last week.

Nunavut Arctic College President appointed

IQALUIT, Nunavut (March 7, 2012) – Nunavut Arctic College Board of Governors and Premier, Eva Aariak, today announced the appointment of Michael Shouldice as president of Nunavut Arctic College (NAC).

Gyu Oh, Fine Arts faculty member with the Nunavut Teacher Education Program, has had a very successful semester. Earlier in the term her Year 3 students staged an ambitious and innovative Art Exhibit at Nunatta campus, Iqaluit. Having seen the response from the College community, our Year 1 students indicated an interest in doing the same.

I have attached pictures of some of our Year 1 students and samples of the work they produced. It included such items as: soap stone carvings; prints; print making; timelines and block carving.

We thank the students for their first steps into the Fine Arts arena and Gyu Oh for her efforts on their behalf.
