NRI and NRCan working together for a common cause
The Nunavut Research Institute and the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Polar Continental Shelf Project (PCSP) signed an agreement this week re-affirming their long-standing commitment to working together to promote opportunities for science, science education and research in the territory.
The Polar Continental Shelf Program has been a strong, dedicated and committed supporter of NRI and the College's Environmental Technology Program and its students.
Literacy and Traditional Skills combine in Resolute Bay
The Resolute Bay Community Learning Centre has been busy this fall semester as nine adults learned traditional Inuit terminology while they prepared and sewed skin clothing with instructor Tagga Manik.

Federal and Territorial funding flows to infrastructure initiative in Resolute Bay
Resolute Bay, Nunavut, October 29, 2011 – Residents of Resolute Bay will benefit from a new water and wastewater system thanks to significant investments announced today at the official opening of the Resolute Bay Arena. Both infrastructure investments have been jointly funded by the governments of Canada and Nunavut.
Fuel Spill at Resolute Bay tank farm
IQALUIT, Nunavut (October 28, 2011) – A fuel spill at the Government of Nunavut tank farm in Resolute Bay last night is being contained and cleaned-up. No injuries were associated with the spill.
Remembering Marty Bergmann
Funeral services were held today in Ottawa, Winnipeg and via the Internet this morning for the late Marty Bergmann, Director of the Polar Continental Shelf Project in Resolute Bay.
For many years, Marty was a steadfast and passionate supporter of the College's Environmental Technology Program. His efforts and commitment to promoting science, research and education in Nunavut will not be forgotten.
On behalf of the staff, students and Board of Governors of Nunavut Arctic College and the Nunavut Research Institute, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Marty's family, friends and colleagues.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (August 24, 2011) – Nunavut Premier Eva Aariak left Resolute Bay this morning after an encouraging visit after last weekend’s crash of Flight 6560.

It is with great distress and sadness that I learned about the crash in Resolute Bay on Saturday.
The Community of Resolute Bay has grown dear to my heart during my past three visits throughout my first year as Commissioner of Nunavut. I can’t help but feel for all the people.
They survived relocation, isolation, social struggles and influences, yet grew to be a strong tight knit community. This tragedy is another blow, however they all pull together to help and be there for one another and for the people who travel through their community.

It has been a sad weekend here in Nunavut and in communities across Canada with the crash of First Air Flight 6560 in Resolute Bay, on Saturday, August 20, 2011. Even as we continue to grieve it is important to recognize the tremendous and immediate response that took place on the ground in this small northern hamlet on Saturday afternoon.
