The review of the abstracts received for the IPY 2012 From Knowledge to Action Conference is completed and letters of acceptance have been sent out. In total 837 oral presentations have been accepted and 1222 posters.
A little reminder that the deadline for authors to confirm their acceptance and register is January 20, 2012. Note that this deadline cannot be extended due to Program requirements. If you have not done so already, please register today or contact the Conference Secretariat at

Beginning April 1, 2011 a new research network will bring together researchers from a broad range of disciplines and organizations representing communities, government, the private sector,and non-profit organizations to conduct and mobilize research aimed at the sustainable development of Arctic natural resources in a manner that will improve the health and well being of Canada's northern communities while preserving the region's unique environment.
The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada recently announced funding for a new Northern research project called Resources and Sustainable Development in the Arctic (ReSDA). The main focus of ReSDA’s research will be on finding ways to ensure that a larger share of the benefits of resource development stay in the region with fewer costs to communities.
The Nunavut Research Institute and the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Polar Continental Shelf Project (PCSP) signed an agreement this week re-affirming their long-standing commitment to working together to promote opportunities for science, science education and research in the territory.
The Polar Continental Shelf Program has been a strong, dedicated and committed supporter of NRI and the College's Environmental Technology Program and its students.
Organizers of the 18th Inuit Studies Conference, entitled "Arctic/Inuit/Connections: Learning from the Top of the World," announce a call for abstracts. The conference is organized by the Arctic Studies Center at the Smithsonian Institution, and will be held 24-28 October 2012 in Washington, D.C.
