The Arviat Film Society was founded in 2010 to support opportunities for Inuit youth to explore education and careers in film and new media, communications and technology. The volunteer driven society has grown over the last three years from five to almost 30 youth, Elders, educators and mentors.

Arviat TV: Digital Indigenous Democracy

In 2013, the Arviat Film Society joined the Indigenous Democracy Project with the Nunavut Independent Television Network (NITV) and Isuma TV to establish a community television station for Arviat. The Society was also chosen by leading global education group Taking IT Global as a delivery site for the 2013 Adobe Youth Voices Program.
