NTEP Graduate Laura Merritt Honoured at University of Regina Convocation
Written by Brian ManningOn Saturday the Faculty of Education, University of Regina, presented Laura Merritt of Rankin Inlet (Nunavut Teacher Education Program Student, Year IV) as the winner of the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation Prize as the Most Outstanding Education Graduate in the Fall Convocation.
The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation Prize is the highest honour awarded to a member of the graduating class, receiving a Bachelor of Education Degree, in a given Convocation Ceremony.
The Fall Convocation this year was held on Saturday October 20th in Regina. The ceremony was colourful and impressive. Laura was officially recognized at the Convocation by the President, University of Regina, Dr. Vianne Timmons.
We extend our sincere congratulations to Laura Merritt and to Nunavut Arctic College and the Faculty of the Nunavut Teacher Education Program.

The Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP), in partnership with the University of Regina, offers a campus and community based program prepares Nunavummiut to become classroom teachers in Nunavut schools. The emphasis is on training primary and elementary teachers, but students may choose to practice at the Junior High and High School levels. The program has a strong focus on pra ctice, and the theory learned in courses is applied in classroom situations through observation and teaching.
