16 Month Term position
The Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP) is hiring an Instructor to join the Pangnirtung Community Learning Centre of Nunavut Arctic College. Reporting to the Program Manager (NTEP), the incumbent is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of courses and programs for the student teachers. The Nunavut Teacher Education Program is offered in partnership with the Faculty of Education, University of Regina. The incumbent will be required to meet various student needs and the standards established by the College and the University of Regina.
Applicants must possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Education. A Master’s Degree in a discipline appropriate to program offerings is preferred. Recent experience teaching in schools is a requirement. Applicants with experience in teacher training and/or instructing, planning and organizing education program activities for adult learners are also encouraged to apply. Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work independently are strong assets for the position. Cross-cultural experience, preferably in the North will be considered a strong asset.
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset. Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities to formal education and experience requirements will be considered.
This position is included in the Nunavut Employees Union. The salary ranges from $87,731 to $99,548 depending on experience. An annual Northern Allowance of $19,077 will also be provided.
