This position is located in Rankin Inlet and reports to the Senior Instructor, Trades Programs, Kivalliq Campus. The incumbent is responsible for planning, instructing, evaluating and reporting on student learning in Nunavut’s Apprenticeship Accredited Pipe Trades Programs for apprenticeship levels 1 And 2. The Instructor will plan and implement lesson plans through delivery of class and shop setting instruction. The Instructor will work with various individuals, organizations, Industry and government departments, in order to deliver the accredited apprenticeship trades program and meet all standards and requirements of the Nunavut Apprenticeship, Occupational & Certification Board.
The successful candidate is required to have an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber Certificate. The incumbent must have several years of positive and progressive work experience as a Journeyperson Plumber and understand how the apprenticeship/training programs are applicable to industry. Applicants who also possess a Red Seal Journeyperson Oil Burner Mechanic and/or Gasfitter certificate are strongly encouraged to apply. The College may require incumbents lacking a certificate in Adult Education to pursue one if requested.
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset. Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities to formal education and experience requirements will be considered.
This position is included in the Nunavut Employee’s Union. The salary ranges from $ 87,731 to $99,548 depending on experience. A Northern allowance of $18,517 per annum is also provided.
