Located in Rankin Inlet and reporting to the President, the Kivalliq Dean is responsible for the strategic planning and day to day operations of the Kivalliq Campus. In addition to campus related responsibilities, the Kivalliq Dean has principal leadership accountability for leading the design, development and delivery of two college-wide programs: the Trades and Technology Career Programs and the Community and Distance Learning Programs. The Kivalliq Dean is responsible for leading faculty and staff in providing a high quality education experience for students, and will ensure that traditional knowledge is a key component of academic programs, thereby contributing to the social, cultural and economic well-being of the Kivalliq region. In addition to managing a large budget and directly and indirectly managing staff, the Kivalliq Dean is accountable for the effective and efficient delivery of student support services in the Kivalliq region. The incumbent will champion Kivalliq Campus and the Kivalliq region by: being involved in the region’s communities and organizations, pursuing partnerships and funding opportunities, and by developing and maintaining strong relationships with key external supporters.
Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position would be acquired through the completion of a Master’s Degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years experience in a senior manager level position. This experience would include developing or managing post-secondary programs and supervising staff, or through a minimum of 3 years experience leading a culturally diverse and complex organization with a preferably deep understanding of the post-secondary education sector.
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset. Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities to formal education and experience requirements will be considered.
This position is a senior management position and is excluded from the Nunavut Employees Union. The salary range for this position starts at $107,774. An annual Northern Living Allowance of $18,517 will be provided. In addition, the incumbent may be eligible for a bilingual bonus of $1,500 per annum.
