College staff presented with Queen’s Jubilee Medals in Rankin Inlet
Written by Nunavut Arctic CollegeThe Board of Governors, students and staff of Nunavut Arctic College would like to congratulate our residence manager Dorothy Atuat Tootoo and president Mike Shouldice.
Shouldice and Tootoo were honoured with Queen’s Jubilee Medals this past weekend along with Charlie Panigoniak and Rankin Inlet Elders Mario Aupilarjuk and Pierre Karlik. The awards were presented by the Hon. Leona Aglukkaq in Rankin Inlet on last week.
“On behalf of the board I wish express our heartiest congratulations to Mike and Dorothy on being awarded Queen's Jubilee medals for their contributions to society,” said Frank Pearce, Chair of the College’s Board of Governors. “It is indeed a great honour to have, not just one, but two of our staff selected for this once in a lifetime award. May they continue to serve as good role models."
The Diamond Jubilee Medal was created by the Government of Canada as part of year-long celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Premier, Commissioner, Member of Parliament and Senator for Nunavut are partners with the federal government in the medal program.

Executive Secretary

Nunavut Arctic College is hiring an Executive Secretary for the President’s Office in Iqaluit. The Executive Secretary provides secretarial and receptionist services for the President, other members of the President’s office, and the College’s Board of Governors. Reporting to the President, the Executive Secretary is responisble for answering and responding to telephone calls, distributing correspondence and reports, submitting documents for the President’s signature, maintaining the filing and records system, making travel/accomodation arrangements and taking minutes at meetings. All elements of records management including archival of information and the proper classification of documents is also an important responsibility.
ADULT EDUCATOR

Nunavut Arctic College is hiring an Adult Educator for the Community Learning Centre of Taloyoak, Nunavut. The Adult Educator is responsible for planning, organizing, delivering and evaluating all educational programming for adult students in the community. Reporting to the Coordinator Community Programs, the Adult Educator will identify and document education needs, provide instruction to students, support instructional staff, provide academic and career development counselling to students, and assist with managing the staff and the administrative fucntions of the Community Learning Centre.

This position is located in Iqaluit and reports to the Senior Instructor, Language and Culture Programs. You will be responsible for coordinating the secretarial, clerical and reception services for the Language and Culture program. You will assist staff in seeking Elder’s suitability for participating in courses on different areas of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and provide logistics for these Elders participating in the courses. You must maintain confidentiality regarding all information dealt with on a regular basis.
