The Board of Governors, students and staff of Nunavut Arctic College would like to congratulate our residence manager Dorothy Atuat Tootoo and president Mike Shouldice.

Shouldice and Tootoo were honoured with Queen’s Jubilee Medals this past weekend along with Charlie Panigoniak and Rankin Inlet Elders Mario Aupilarjuk and Pierre Karlik. The awards were presented by the Hon. Leona Aglukkaq in Rankin Inlet on last week.

“On behalf of the board I wish express our heartiest congratulations to Mike and Dorothy on being awarded Queen's Jubilee medals for their contributions to society,” said Frank Pearce, Chair of the College’s Board of Governors. “It is indeed a great honour to have, not just one, but two of our staff selected for this once in a lifetime award. May they continue to serve as good role models."

The Diamond Jubilee Medal was created by the Government of Canada as part of year-long celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Premier, Commissioner, Member of Parliament and Senator for Nunavut are partners with the federal government in the medal program.
