The Program Manager Teacher Education Programs is located in Rankin Inlet and reports to the Director of Education Programs. The incumbent is responsible for supervising and managing all aspects of community and campus based Teacher Education programs in the Kivalliq and Kitikmeot regions. The incumbent also supervises and manages all other education related programs such as the Aboriginal Language Certificate program and other professional development programs for teachers and education support staff. The incumbent is responsible for realizing Nunavut Arctic College’s commitment to the GN’s10 year teacher education strategy and plays a key role in preparing educators in Nunavut to help the Nunavut government reach its goal of improved education and training outcomes as outlined in Tamapta.
The incumbent must possess a degree in Education with expertise in a discipline appropriate to program offerings. In addition, the incumbent should also have 5 yrs instructional experience at the elementary grade level and or high school combined with 2 years supervisory or teacher education experience. Northern instructional experience would be preferred.
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is considered an asset.
This position is included in the Nunavut Employee’s Union.
