Minister Daniel Shewchuk welcomes Arctic College staff to Katinniq 2011 conference in Iqaluit

Written by  Daniel Shewchuk, Minister Responsible for Nunavut Arctic College

It is my pleasure to be able to connect with you here today, at the Katinniq: Connecting Communities conference. As the Minister Responsible for the College, I am dedicated to supporting the great work that you are all engaged in, in every community across our territory.

We all share the belief that education is the key to the continued development of Nunavut.

The kind of bi-cultural, inclusive and community-based learning that you offer at Nunavut Arctic College is making contributions both to individual, personal and professional development, but also to the communities and to the Government of Nunavut.

It is our expectation that the federal and territorial government contributions to the Knowledge Infrastructure Program will improve communication technology at the College enabling you to reach out to even more students and increase learning options in all of our communities, truly facilitating a higher level of connection throughout the College.

I wish you an enjoyable and productive week.

Hon. Daniel Shewchuk,
Member of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut for Arviat
Minister Responsible for Nunavut Arctic College
Minister of Environment
Minister of Human Resources
