This academic year there has been increased emphasis on the development of a Middle School Education delivery system. The intent is to devise a program that will prepare Teachers for placement in Grades 7-9 in Nunavut schools.

Consequently, a committee has been established to study and present proposals to the Partnership Committee. The membership of the Middle School Committee is drawn from:

  • Nunavut Teacher Education Program / Nunavut Arctic College
  • Curriculum and School Services / Department of Education
  • University of Regina
  • Nunavut Teacher’s Association
  • Kivalliq and Kitikmeot Teacher Representatives

There are two Chairpersons who have been appointed to lead the discussions: Jim Legge (Manager: NTEP) and Bonita Tucker (Middle Years Teacher Training Coordinator / Curriculum and School Services). The full Middle School Committee are meeting this week to discuss various models..

We anticipate positive results from these sessions over the next several months.
