Arviat, Nunavut (July 25, 2026) - Arviat Mayor Bob Leonard today announced approval of the Arviat Diamond Driller’s Training (ADDT) Program. This 10-week program will be offered to 12 Arviat students beginning in September of 2011. A second course is scheduled for January 2012 and will be open to residents of other Kivalliq communities.
July 18, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut. First Air’s inaugural Airline Foundations Program comes to an end on Wednesday after nine days of classroom study. Fourteen students from across Nunavut will successfully complete the program which took place at Nunavut Arctic College Nunatta Residence.

Graduates of this program will be prepared to successfully challenge the Department of Education’s Trades Entrance Exam that is required to enter into an apprenticeship.
