Written by  Keeley Deller, Council on Drug Abuse

Iqaluit, NU - September 29, 2026 The Council on Drug Abuse (CODA) is visiting Iqaluit on October 6, 2026 to launch their new interactive training program focusing on youth engagement strategies. It will be held at the Frobisher Inn from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Local health promotion intermediaries are participating in the full day of education and activities filled with constructive dialogue and learning while discussing the very important issues of youth engagement and drug prevention.

The workshop is being offered at no cost to participants and is sponsored through grants from the Health Canada Drug Strategy Community Initiatives Fund, and a title grant from PharmaScience, which is one of two Canadian-owned generic pharmaceutical companies in Canada and is the third largest pharmaceutical firm in Canada in terms of the number of prescriptions.

This is the first visit of many to Nunavut by CODA who will be working with local addiction experts in 6 Nunavut school communities to prevent drug misuse/abuse through prevention education.
